About the Recipe
This delicious moist bread is based on an old depression peanut butter bread recipe and is more of a desert or tea time bread.
2 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon of salt
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 cup SunnyB smooth, crunchy or natural
3/4 cup sugar
1/2 cup milk
1 cup apple sauce (I just used 2 apples and put them in the blender)
1 teaspoon baking soda
Set the oven to bake and preheat to 180C and line or oil a bread tin
In a mixing bowl sift in the flour, salt, and baking powder.
Add the SunnyB and work through by hand till the mixture resembles a crumbly texture.
In a separate bowl, mix the egg and sugar until creamy. Add the apple sauce and milk and stir through.
Then, quickly stir the baking soda into the egg mixture and then add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients. Transfer into the bread tin and bake for 60 - 65 min.
Remove from the oven and once cool tip the bread out onto a cooling rack.
Enjoy as is or with butter
